Does anybody have any suggestions as to how to get horse working at a show as he does at home?

My horse either switches off completely or gets really strong and ignores me. Have tried warming up for various lengths of times with no improvement.

So frustrating as working lovely at home. Always hack to shows as they just down the road and he goes with his stablemate.

Here is a link to him at the weekend, excuse the head stuck up. We had a lack of bend and brakes as he just wanted to go round as fast as possible x

Maybe you ride differently? If your nervous or excited then maybe you dont ride as you do at home?

You could try sticking to a routine warm up and then when in the ring or doing a test dont forget to actually ride the horse according to what you are feeling. Its a common thing for riders just to sit and look pretty, going through the motions, rather than responding to what the horse is actually doing at the time.
