Okay, so I have a huge problem here. And very little to no time. My dressage horse was on and off lame on his right hind. We suspected it is his hock. We did x-rays and first vet said he has a little bit of osteoarthrtis in his hock and he has a fracture of a small bone in his hock also that caused arthritis. Then we asked for a 2nd vet opinion and he said he has arthritis, that his hock is worn out and he said he has a cracked tibia/cannon bone and a bone chip in his middle tarsal joint. They're both talking about surgery, and first vet spoke about stem cells. I have no idea what to do, so I'm beginning anyone of you if you can look or know someone who can at his x-rays? I would mail you them. I'm desperate as two vets are telling different stories and need urgent help. Anyone please? I'm begging you. :(

the bone chip is likely to be an ocd - if they are not discovered they can cause arthritis in the hock. see my thread ' hock ocd thread ' for details on surgery.

Hey. Thanks for replying. I read your post and surgery info really did help. I have no idea if it is chip or ocd, I just know that he does take a lot to warm up. And his lameness is weird. Like he is sound during really fast full speed gallop, but goes lame after working heavily off his hind. It is weird, and I'm still waiting another person to look at his x-rays. Thank you. :)
