Can anyone suggest?.. I usually pay someone to clip my mare and gelding but this winter i will be buying my own pair of clippers. Now which ones do people suggest? as there is so many to choice from, also what type of blades would you recommend? I would like them to cut the fur quite short, as i know some blades are different on the length of the hair. I need some that are good clipping through thick feathers as my mums gelding is a traditional cob and he has his feathers off so need some that will get through them easily! and what sort of price for clippers are reasonable? If anyone could suggest anything this would be great! Thanks! :)

HI,
If you have mains power available get a Liberty mains . This is the Lister liberty clipper but with out the battery pack.

The liberty is 12v so it is super safe but has plenty of power plus as it is just 12v there is a lot less to go wrong , over heat and generally break.

Lister have a huge range of blades for the body most use either a A2 or a A2F for the legs if you want to leave a bit of length to give a little protection look at the covercote blades they leave 5 mm of hair.

The other advantage to this clipper is that it can use a battery pack if you need it so you have future flexibility.

Hope this helps

Nick

I have red rocket clippers, (lister) and doing feathers I use coarse blades, then mediums for body ...I like them, easy to hold, quiet when using them,
