Just pinched this link from another post, what number would you say your horse was on?

I think mine is probably a 2 now, although he is hunting fit, and goes up to a three (with a big fat belly) in the summer. do you think thats still a bit poor? He looks ok generally but he always gets a boney back in the winter for some reason

What breed is he? I did this in great detail the other day in nutrition. People tend to think their horses are thinner than they are to be honest. A 2/2.5 is fine for winter and a horse that is hunting fit, 3 is perfect really. Horses weren't built to carry weight after all!

ETA: I'd want mine at about 2/2.5 going into spring anyway to be honest, as we all know they pile on the pounds then. Mine is at home whilst I'm at uni, so is a fatty at the moment unfortunately.

Yea, I know what you mean, as soon as the spring grass comes through he'll be a tubster again! Grass is the only thing that seems to put weight on him really he can eat hayledge and hard feed til it's coming out of his ears and it still doesn't do much for him! wish i was the same!
 
Wish mine was more like yours tbh, he's an ISH too but complete opposite, lives off fresh air. He looks a fine weight there so wouldn't worry!
 
think Pidge is a 3 at the moment! But was probably a 0 - 1 when I first got him

Is that you jumping him over that hedge? Would c*** myself if had to jump that big!
 
since topspec conditioning flakes he is on a 2.5 roughly-which is amzing as last he he was like 1-2!(more of a 2 but pretty skinny!)
 
Dan is unquestionably a 4 but there is not much i can do about it. He has been off work for 3 weeks since abcess and now back and physio has advised another 3 weeks off. He has a handful of hard feed (literally) so that he thinks he is having something and then hayledge. Can't restrict hayledge because he will escape and cause havoc or alternatively kick through wall!

keeping an eye on him for lammi (ok still) but if i get worried he will be confined to box rest or very limited grazing (although last time we tried that he jumped out of that field in to the nice one!) till can go back into work!
