Hi All

Can anyone recommend any reputable dealers in he North West of England who specialise in Irish Horses. I know of "Cobs n Plods" Doug Alldred, Joe Howard. Thanks in advance everyone.

Sarah

Dally Birkett, some people love him some people hate him. i got an amazing mare off him along with lots of people i know. some people have got tear aways off him as well though. its the look of the draw really but if you do end up going to him make sure you try the horse out a good few times in different surroundings along with a vets check, trust me with him you will need it. there is a lovely connemara for sale

I personally reccomend the showjumper Keith Shore, he imports a lot of Irish horses. I got my stunning 17.2 Irish Sports Horse from him who has now gone on to a very successful eventing career (after his dressage career with me!). I was stabled on his yard for years and when I was looking for a new horse I tried a few of his out but didn't really 'click' with any of them, I then told him what type of horse I was looking for and lo and behold, one week later there was my Diamond Abstract imported from Ireland!!
So yes, I think that he is an excellent dealer.

I've bought three of my horses from my current yard owner, I moved to the yard after buying my first.

I know it sounds like I'm promoting him just because I'm on the yard but I'm honestly not.

He will go out and find you the horse that suits you. He won't sell anything that could hurt you or won't click with you. He can get anything from ISHs to KWPNs. Pm me it you want details.

I haven't got any personal experience, so I can't recommend as such but Vicky Yoxall advertises some nice looking horses and they seem to be reasonably priced. She has a Facebook page, might be worth a look. She's in Macclesfield I think.

Another for Keith Shore. I didn't actually end up buying from him but he was brilliant. I was pretty open to what i wanted and ended up trying 6/7 horses. Some were a no straight away others I rode for a while. He was never in any rush and seemed very honest.
Just to add all his horses were very nice I just didn't buy from him because I happened to have tried one a few days earlier who had captured my heart... But I tried to be sensible by trying others... Didn't work!
