Last year I attended the GUID NYCHBURRIS cornets chases at park farm Dumfries,Scotland.A horse in a nearby horsebox was kicking heavily and trying to draw attention to itself..it was clear that this was a case of a horse that was in some distress yet no one seemed to be checking the horse..a few minutes later the horse had clearly lost its mind and somehow managed to kick its way out of the lorrybox up through the rear half closed doors.people nearbt were now panicking as the horse was now hanging from its tether that was still attached to the inside and was kicking out to try and free itself,at this stage it was to dangerous for anyone to go close??sadly with its severe distress it broke one of its rear legs and had now collapsed in agony...this as you can imagine was very distressing for all to witness and we were futher conserned to learn that NO VET was in attendance at this event..it tokk half an hour to summon avet who put the horse to sleep via injection..I reported the incident to the authoritysand the police claim that it was acase of a spooked horse who had earlier thrown its rider and was put into its box..I learned that it was hired horse..but no action was taken on the people responsible for the horse..surely if someone checked to see what was wrong this may never have happened..Hopefully this incident will bring in new measures regarding VET ATTENDANCE at these events..as from I have witnessed they are indde an accident waiting to happen
