Sad incident.. But im alittle confused.
At the top of the article it states the the animal had a 'fatal heartattack'

At the bottom of the article it says the horse was put down due to 'two broken legs'

So which was it.. a fatal heartattack or two broken legs?
Sorry to be pedantic.

Im sorry but ive jsut read the second 'horse dies and two jockeys injured in slingo beach race'.. hum..

The horse was put down after break two legs..

But they think it had a heart attack?! WTF.. are these articles written by the same person!?

Just find it a bit weird.. it really is exactly the same story.. Even down to the jockeys injuries.. two spinal injuries and two already been discharges.. dodgy..

Just looks like the journalist got very mixed up between the 2 stories. However thats not very professional is it? And there's a msitake in the title of one of them - its "Sligo" not "Slingo".

It's not exactly the same story, just two very similar ones that by coincidence happened very close to each other. Unfortunately not an accident unheard of in racing. Both events are covered separately, providing similar information, in other outlets.

A friend of mine is a trainer at Woodbine and was at the race in question. Apparently the horse just dropped in full flight, as far as anyone can tell from a heart attack, and broke both legs in the resulting pile up. The story says the horse was pronounced dead at the scene - not quite the same scenario as in Sligo - but even if he didn't die "naturally" he would have been put down within minutes of the accident so difficult to say if he would have lived without the injuries. Both jockies are professionals and hardly "teenagers".

The one jock is in an induced coma while they deal with his injuries.

Very sad for all concerned.

And the spelling is correct in the body of the piece, btw, so technically an editor's mistake, not the journalist's.
