I am just after some advice as to what Im feeding my mare. She can be quite stressy and anxious, and also tends to lose condition in winter. Is 15.3 TbX

I am hoping to feed her a healthy diet, with low starch levels. There is a possibility she may have ulcers which are going to be investigated, so just want to make sure Im not feeding anything that will cause more problems.

Currently she is getting:
In morning:
1/2 scoop of hi fi lite
<1/4 scoop blue bag grass pellets
<1/4 scoop speedibeet

In evening:
1 scoop hi fi lite
1/2 scoop speedibeet
1/4 scoop blue bag grass pellets
Scoop of super codlivine supplement

With approx 24lbs haylage overnight

She lost weight only on in winter, but has started gaining it now with this diet.

Alos, Im thinking of changing the hi fi lite, to hi fi molasses free or Alfa-A molasses free.
And also maybe adding brewers yeast and instant linseed.

But am not sure whether adding these 2 will be needed with the supplement, or add too much weight or if they are even needed?

So your thoughts would be very grateful thank you.

Just a thought which might be worth investigating. We have a similar sounding horse on our yard. Now he does have a variety of things wrong with him which are managed so at times hard to know what is causing what. However, recently his owner has suspected he might have ulcers and has been trialling him on the Forever Living Aloe Vera. The results are quite dramatic. The horse in question was getting really grumpy and touchy about his stomach and tacking up and this has stopped.

Changing to Mollasses free is a good idea. Brewers Yeast will be very helpful in calming his tummy and making the most of his feed, and micronised linseed is good for hooves, coat etc. There are several schools of thought on feeding fish products such as cod liver oil to horses as fish is not a "natural" feed for horses. If you are feeding linseed, then you need not feed oil.

Thanks for the advice :) it's all such a minefield trying to decide what's best for her and will help the most with what I need
