I have had my horse for only three weeks. He is on full livery and his poos are grim! Any ideas?

I have brought him in during the day for the last week. Hay only. Pink powder in a handful of chaff. Hoping that might give him a chance to settle. If anything it is getting worse.

He is definitely nervous and unsettled by the move.
His teeth were in a terrible state. Done last Tuesday.
We are taking it slow. Hacking out gently most days.

Have you wormed? that is the first thing to consider, if his teeth were bad his worming history may have been equally neglected, I find they can be a bit loose when changing yard, as a YO I have dealt with several that took a while to get into routine and loose droppings are one sign, brewers yeast helped with most, along with plenty of forage and, as you are doing anyway, bringing in for a while and keeping them on a very simple diet.

I wormed him the day arrived with Equest Pramox. He was on haylage at his previous yard and quite poor grass. He started with me on haylage but we have switched to hay for the last 7days after his teeth being done.

He is very gentle and sweet but is definitely unsettled by the move.
