Christmas Crumpet

I turned my horse out on Saturday morning for a couple of hours in the snow and, seeing as he had been in all week, went a bit loopy and galloped up and down the hill skidding to a stop at the fence.
I rode him that afternoon and in trot it sounded as though he was forging or bashing his other foot. He felt as though his off hind end was slightly lower than his near hind end if that makes sense. I got home and found that he had been dragging his toe and had worn away a bit of his hoof.
I imagine he has tweaked something whilst arsing about in the field. He was kept in yesterday and given a bute on Sat pm and one yesterday. Trotted him up and he is sound so have turned him out for an hour or two to stretch his legs. He is much more sedate today so no arsing around!
Just wondering what the next course of action should be. I'm not sure how long to give him off, whether to ring physio and ask her to come out or whether to trot him up tonight and if he sounds and looks ok to ride him out walking tomorrow morning. Any ideas?
