So... Went to catch G today and he was eating some poo- no idea if it was his or one of the other's. He's out 24/7 living on grass alone.. Am wondering if it could be a nutritional deficiency?? Anyone had any experience of horses doing this? Apart from that he's on great form and seems full of life at the mo... Very weird!

When they eat poo or mud it's generally a sign of some sort of nutritional deficiency like you said.

A good vitamin and/or salt lick would probably be enough to satisify him - just don't buy one of the rubbish ones full of sugar!

I saw the title of this thread and thought 'so that's why they spook at it!' :D

Our grotty little cob has been observed dashing over to grab himself a huge gobful of steamy heapy. Seems he likes it warm, dirty little s*d.

Not noticed anything amiss, he's on a balancer. Must just be something he fancied at the time. Foals do it to boost their gut flora.
