Horse eating rabbit poo and licking dirt???

As the title says really i caught my pony doing it this morning i found it very strange really have you every heard/seen this before??
He is turned out 24/7 as i have no stables because i keep them at home he has plenty of grass but i regret to say that he is overweight but cant budge the weight!!

Can anyone suggest aything on what be wrong with him??

Licking dirt suggests he isn't been fed the correct amount of minerals and is searching for other means of aquiring them. Try feeding a mineral supplement and see if he stops licking dirt

I wouldn't imagine there's anything wrong with him. Horses licking and eating mud is quite a natural thing. All of ours do it - and you won't find a healthier bunch of nags.

As for the weight - strip graze him or muzzle him???

Tried both removes muzzle by rubbing no matter how tight i make it and pulls fence posts out the ground to get more grass?? if the lecci is on he goes under the fence but i do have a double row i really dont get it

Could be mineral deficiency. My pony eats goose poo, yummy!!
