As the title really ... My stupid 4 year old has a thing about likits however the last one he had (mint) lasted him a good few weeks. Even though he technically doesn't 'lick' it, he chews it!

I put his favourite flavour in last night (apple) and by the time i'd cleaned my tack, poo picked and sorted feed and what not out for the next day I went back to say goodnight to him and it had gone :/

Tobe was standing at the back of his stable looking rather pleased with himself with green lips !!

Now I know likits are no harm to horses else they obviously wouldn't make them but is eating a WHOLE one bad for them in anyway considering its pure sugar.
I didn't ride him this morning in case he had a bit of a dicky tummy, as well as the fact that it had gone to his head and he was a nutjob taking down to his field ! It was quite funny to be fair.

Would anyone else be worried or have I really got sod all to worry about?

Aw that is so funny cause my lil ejit of a mare did exactly da same thing last night i gave her da black cherry nut version at 4 and by 8 at night it was gone and lets just say she was it good form this morning like wasps were stuck in her hoives would stand still head flinging and power walk to da field! no more liks for my girl shel be on turnip on a rope from now on!

2 HOURS????? I wish they lasted my little lad that long....he can demolish a whole one in about 2 minutes. Never caused him any problems b ut he only gets them very occasionally now as he is a fatty.

2 HOURS?!!
Gawd if only they lasted that long!
Hovis' record is about two minutes and one mouth full.
Needless to say he doesn't get them anymore - not because of harm to him, but because of harm to my wallet!

2 hours is ages! Mine pinned his against a wall and it was gone in about 30 seconds. After that I decided I didn't want him having that much of a sugar shot in one go, and didn't buy another!

My 4yr old is the same he just take's chuncks out of it. As he eats them quick, I just don't put another one straight in as he will just do the same.

My cob gets though them in ten seconds and if im not quick enough he will try and eat the plastic case as well weve had many a tug of war surprised he has any teeth left

we hung one in for my bf's 2yr colt at the royal welsh to keep him entertained and it was gone by the time we had filled haynets from the haylage bale outside the block and done waterbuckets

2 hours is a long time! ;)
My mare can get through Likits and whole swedes hung from her door within about 10 minutes!
Pity they don't do bigger ones they can't get their mouths round and/or push it against a wall to chomp at it!

I bought one of the big blocks - like the ice cream tub size one x i left it in her stable after i'd ridden in the morning, came back at lunch and it had all gone except the corners that she couldn't get out!! x must say i was worried but she seemed fine!! x

i thought she'd lick it like a salt lick - occasionally!! but no...the whole thing was gone!! x

mine ate his in 10 mins went to it tilted his head sideways put his gums either side of the plastic top and bottom and BIT hard broke it in 2 and finished it before i came back with water bucket

what does slow him down is if i freeze it before hanging it . lol

My horse bites it in half, both halfs fall out and it's gone minutes!

^^^^^This. I prefer the little ones that fit into the ball now for boredom relief purposes, at least they can't get their chops round these ones. Not that I have fed them for a couple of years since mine all live out 24/7. We used to have odd days at least yard where they would have to stay in all day and I might get them one then.

Captain is a colicky horse and no harm came to him when he ate his in less than an hour. If you want something to last longer try the Uncle Jimmy's seed balls. Although Fany did eat hers in around 2 hours apparently!

My elderly arab bites them into halves and it's gone in 30seconds

Obviously I now just stick with a polo mint and leave it at that.
