Horse Events - 30th August?

Probably miles too far from you, but we always go to Littlewick Show which is right by M4 J 8/9. Good selection of local unaff classes, showing jumping, kids classes etc, a large car boot, historic vehicles, craft and produce tent, flower show, arena displays (usually something like a sheepdog show and birds of prey etc), charity stalls, kids rides etc. Is usually one mobile tack shop too. Would follow with a stroll by the river and a meal in Windsor later.

Don't know of anything further east but have you tried http://www.ridingdiary.co.uk

Yes, it is good fun - a proper old fashioned show for everyone - there's a lot there so you can take all day to go round it all but not so big you're exhausted. Good refereshments (home made cakes in the tea tent), lots for kids or grownups really, and I always find something in the car boot or a good book or two (It's quite an upmarket car boot) as does OH (tractor spares usually), and we often enter the produce show with something, or I send in a few photos - got a 1st for a pic of my dog once. But you could just spend all day watching the horse events - 3 rings I think, some heavy horses doing trailer rides too.
