Horse failed vetting - the hunt begins again!!

The horse I thought was perfect for me failed the vetting last week. I'm absolutely gutted, but maybe it means my ideal partner is still out there somewhere...

If anyone fancies a spot of horse shopping or knows of something suitable, I'm hoping I'm not looking for the impossible - I know I want exactly what everyone else is looking for!

I'm looking for a mare or gelding approx 15.1-16.1. I'd prefer something age 7-12, but would potentially consider slightly older or younger if everything else was right. I want to do riding club stuff and low level eventing, and ideally would like something with a bit of eventing experience to teach me the ropes. I prefer a horse that is forward thinking and in front of the leg, but sane and not too strong. I'm a keen hacker as well, so needs to hack alone and in company. Basically a real allrounder to have fun on.....

If anyone knows of anything not a million miles away from the Oxford area then please let me know. I have a realistic, though not endless budget. Thanks!!
 
Thanks Natz, I was thinking of giving them a ring! Does anyone else know of any fun and forgiving eventers/allrounders for sale or loan?
 
Stupid question really, but horses rarely "fail" a vetting, just often things are picked up, if this horse was perfect in every other way, is it not worth just putting in an offer anyway??

Unless it was massively lame or something of course! ;)
 
He was slightly lame behind, which would lead to an insurance exclusion. They weren't open to offers, and he was a bit on the pricey side. I didn't really want to take the risk that the lameness could turn into something serious without being able to insure!! I did think long and hard about whether to risk it, but I'm pretty sure I made the right decision.

Sensible choice. Don't give up, we have had out new horse for just over a week ago and had all but given up.

Sounds like it to me, I just wondered if it was something minor it would be worth haggling, but good luck in your search x

OMG the mare with the cruising lines sounds PERFECT for us - why is it nr bloody south hampton!? grrr!
