Horse feed.

Depends on why it caused the problem. But when I stopped barley based feeds for our fizzy SJ'er I saw a difference in 48 hours.

When mine reacted to alfalfa took about a week for her to completely revert to her usual self, but it did make her skin very sensitive (to the point she was trying to kick my head in when grooming) and this has to settle down.

It can take 3 weeks, or even more, for all the effects to settle down. Lots of horses have problems with alfalfa, so yours is not alone, OP. Well done for recognising it.

I was going to say the same as Pearlsinger, it took nearly 3 weeks for my little cob to calm down after I fed him Alfa A. I had been feeding for nearly a week before he became really silly and spooky and very nearly dangerous on it.

Great food for the right horse but a real problem if the horse does not react well to it.

the food has made my horse itch really badly, and when summer came anything that touched his neck he would just rub it till it bleed and he has nearly fallen over 2 times from itching so madly! I feel so sorry for him as he is getting frustrated x

My other cob had a very similar reaction, he was covered in hives with hard ends, they took ages to clear.
