Bringing my horse out of stable
Tonight and he missed his footing as had to step down , slipped , seemed ok initially and then went to lunge , was sound in walk and first few strides lame in trot then after another couple of strides eased and then sound in trot , checked all his legs and seemed sore on frog so unsure if it has bruised ?!!, bandaged and have him a bute in tea , any advise much appreciated thanks

My mare ended up falling over on the concrete about a month back, she was stiff/sore for a couple of days after but after that she was fine so I think it was just bruising.
If he's still a bit off in a couple of days I would call the vet though!

He's PROBABLY just feeling stiff and sore. I would rest/turn out for a couple of days and then work him very gently for a few days. A Danilon a day, then half a Danilon second day, then none.

But if you have any real doubts, get the vet, and even if you don't. do watch him very carefully. We had a tragic instance here two years ago. A TB livery was turned out in the field, which has a concrete track at one side. Something spoooked him (in a silly, not-really-frightened sort of way). He came bucketing across the field, tried to execute a sharp turn, lost his footing, and down he went. He got up, shaken but seemingly OK. I checked him over, rang the owner and told her what had happened. We kept a close eye on him but he seemed fine. Not lame, not stiff..

As it happened, because of work commitments the owner was not planning to ride him for a week or two. About a week later, I did my midnight check of the horses. Though I could see him, only about 10 yards from me, he wouldn't come for his apple-half. I so nearly didn't pursue the matter, as there was mud between him and me and I was in house shoes. But because he was a very greedy horse, and he was whinnying at me, I squelched across, to find him crippled, with what I guessed was a broken leg.

There followed the awful scenario of the vet and the owner out at 2a.m. To cut a long and horrid story short, he had broken his off-hind leg, right high up at the stifle, within his flank. He was put down in the erly dawn. the point of this story is that that was the side, and the hip, that had taken the full impact of his slip-up. But he showed NO signs of injury between the accident and the final night. but the vet said he was certain he had suffered a hairline fracture, which probably only manifested himself when he rolled, or played the fool again.

So do be very vigilant for a while. But this was a worst case scenario, and I hope your boy will be as good as new and unaffected by his slip-up.
