I don't think there is a thread out there already asking this but if there is just shout ;)

Basically I want to know what you have in your horse first aid kits. What makes up your first aid kit? What couldn't you live without? What are cheaper alternatives? etc.

Thanks :D

I have too much stuff to list it all, one thing i think no horse owner should be without is a hoof boot, you can get some that can be used for if your horse looses a shoe and are also good for poulticing. I find the expensive salves a load of rubbish to be honest, sudocrem is a personal favourite, i go through it like you wouldn't believe as my mare is always getting little nicks and scrapes. My mare suffers from what i call scabby knees, its where she gets scabs behind her knees yet no wound, my vet says many horses of her type get it, E45 cream works a treat with a flea comb to remove the scabs from her fur. I also have all the typical things like the self adhesive bandages, animalintex etc. Wound powder is.. Ok but im a big believer in a clean moist wound heals better then a dried up one, this is just from experience with my ow horses as iv tried the cleaning it and then leaving it be but its never healed as quick for me. most of the stuff in my kit is pretty cheep, just from local tackstores :)

Thank you both. At the moment I share a large first aid kit with the yard so when I move in September would like to have my own supplies sorted.
