Horse fly traps

Our fields and yard are inundated with horse flies, I am currently losing 4 (bites) to 2 (killed). I was thinking about getting a horse fly trap for my mare's field but need your collective brains to help me make a decision.
Are horse fly traps effective, do they get rid of a lot of horse flies?
Do they only catch horse flies or are they a hazard to nicer winged insects, like bumblebees?
Is there a particular trap you would recommend?

They are on their third summer. Year one they were in the horse fence line and a sheep fence line. Year two I had both in horse fence lines. This year they are again in the horse fence lines.

They are full of clegs, a few other flies and one moth.

I hardly noticed a difference in year one. Definately a lot less clegs down by the sheep, still plenty up near the horses, hence moving the sheep one to the horse paddocks. Today I have been bitten while at the sheep but there are only odd ones about the equines.

To be fully effective with my acreage I really should have at least five of them but cost puts me off.

Its a nightmare, im thinking of making myself a zebra print top or buying a shirt like this… obviously not worn like that! i dont think they could land on BBs ride on fly rug, however they tried to target his face

I splatted one on the window with my slipper this morning. You would not believe how far the innards and gore of one horse fly spreads given a good whack.

They are massive round here killed 2 this morning gross things.

Louis got bitten on inside of his thigh near sheath and it was huge it's still weeping crap out of it.

I hope these work I ordered one at the weekend, the numbers of horseflies are awful this year

I am SO glad I keep the horses in an area where we don’t get them!
