Horse for sale

^^^^ ditto what flame says^^^^

Poor lady was just asking advice on a horse that had caught her eye as a potential new horse. I think she has made the right decision, she and her current mare clearly dont get on so has she has decided to sell, nothing wrong with that, plenty have people have done the same!

Good luck HM.

Ive been here for long enough to know that you like to wind people up and after the day Ive had you are doing a grand job well done. Why did you not respond to my OP with your opinion. Please offer me your words of wisdom on how you would have dealt with the situation.

[/ QUOTE ]

No, it is not my intention to 'wind you up' at all, and I think I knew that you would rather blame your current horse, than address any issues.

Not sure what you mean by 'respond to your OP with your opinion'? If you mean that I should tell you what I think of the horse for sale above, then that goes against forum etiquette as I understand it, so I shan't.

Well this post was asking what you though of horse above for sale not about how you think I handled the stable situation tonight wrongly. You responded by saying it was similar to my current horse which it is not. You then responded with your opinion which I was free to ignore, I choose not to as you had got a few details wrong, telling me it was my fault as I had not tied horse up etc I responded saying horse had been tied up but had snapped rope etc. Then I got the cold headed, weak response. Now Im not am expert but Im sure there is something inbetween what I currently own and what you wished me luck in finding. I guess the picture of Molly, my pony, confused you and you thought that was the horse I had the trouble with now if I could not handle her I would give up horses. Offence was taken as your facts were incorrect and implied that I did not have a clue what I was doing.

For f!ck's sake...

Like the look, but then I'm a sucker for a welsh cob! Just to warn you, we had the most amazing 14hh welsh cob who'd jump the moon but he was a thug and a bully- at one popint my sister used to vault in and out of his stable becuase he was so bargey, and he was lead in a chifney everywhere (little 13yo couldn't hold his massive bulk otherwise). We aren't 'nice mummies' at all but he was v barget and people say that it is a trait of a wc who hasn't been taught manners from the word go...

Sadly we should both be out partying rather than sniping at each other on this forum - but I have an ill husband that is keeping me at home tonight.
Ohhh terrible generalisations about race horses......my boys are pointers. so trained at home (and I work full-time as well) - no two days are the same - and we don't have a horse walker. Went hunting today with one, he was an ass - but I was quite pleased that he was, as very dull normally in his roadwork. Very uphill - I wish they were less so, as their top lines would improve - but I do lots of hill work to try and improve that. When Harry (the pointer) goes forward, then I can ask him to come down, but he is such a lazy sod...
Chill out - please, and you may find that the nags do too.......

[/ QUOTE ]

Yip agree terrible generilisations about racers I know some lovely ex racers. I was just throwing back at you what you did to me and guess what you defended yourself.

I have already apologised regarding calling your horse Molly - but a name is insignificant really.
I feel very sorry for your horse, it is trying to tell you how it feels about life, and you don't seem to listen at all.
frown.gif

I hope you find a nice, new home for her, so she can relax, and you can have something less complex that doesn't require understanding.
I'm going to leave my comments here - as you seem to respond with anger to all who don't post what you want/expect to hear.
Good luck.

OK - I freely admit that the big stick thing can go the other way - What happens if you open the stable door, where does she go then? is the stable a problem? Perhaps a field shelter?

[/ QUOTE ]

She runs out and trots about the yard now on a yard with fifty horses it dosent go down well espically if she gets into the field. She cant live out as she suffers from terrible mud rash and really feels the cold and if you can find a non muddy field in winter in scotland you are doing better than me. She is normally quite happy in stable but this is her response if she gets her knickers in a twist while in stable.

and, fwiw, i totally understand about your bargy horse. and agree you should sell. she's your horse. you do what you like. it's your life, your happiness, and only you know if you'll ever 'click' with her properly.

Whilst I agreed with Shilistar a post or so ago - now he/she is being a little fascist I think!

Ahhhhhhh you did not just get the name wrong. I respond in anger to people who do not bother reading what has already been posted. My horse has daily turnout in a very big field with other horses, a clean dry stable at night in the winter with her friends next door, rugs to suit the weather, a diet to meet her needs, has a varied exercise regime including lots of lessons and hacking, as much forage as she can eat overnight, is neither to thin or too fat, sees the vet if need be, gets any minor cut/scrape attended to promptly, is groomed regular. An owner who has made coutless excuses/stood up for her/justified and tried to understand her behaviour for 18 months, the horse then reapaid me by trying to squash me in a corner beacause I asked her to wait until I was out the door before sticking her head out.

Nothing personal......I feel the need to text my daughter who is reading History (Late Modern) at Reading to ask her view - but guess that she will not have a view at this time of night.......
Who is brave enough to post a message on this Forum? I like to see a good debate, as mostly it is people who are agreeing with the kitchz photos and anodyne comments mostly....

The problem is that we have read your posts!!!!

I said at the start of the post that I was browsing on the net and merely asked for an opinion on the above ned. Where did I say that I was going to run out and buy it before I have found a new mummy for my current ned. I take it you think that there is some form of shame in admiting you are overhorsed? I have given it a good go its not working for a variety of reasons so shis going for schooling and to be sold. Would you rather I keep this unsuitable horse and we can grow more resentful of each other.

2010 has arrived - what are the New Years Resolutions for those actively involved with this post? For me, it is make sure I make my 24/7 horses in their stables for the next 5 months happy ones (and lets hope that one of them might win a race....) For Hairey Molly - make the right choice, maybe move on the current horse, but get the right one next time - and not some creature that is as ground down as the one you showd us in the original picture. Happy New Year one and all!

Anyway folks I give in. This post has moved on from what it was meant to be. I like the horse, I know what welshD's can be like and in the past have enjoyed them. I dont think there is any shame in admiting you are overhorsed and sometimes it just dosent work. Thanks to all who replied in a constructive manner it is appreciated. There are alot of experts out there and I am obviously a lesser horse person than those that have mastered the "tone" of voice that cures all horsey behavioural issues. I am away to see if I can master the tone of voice that will get my OH to make me a cup of tea.

In response to the OP. I think he looks like a nice chap and worth a viewing! Do let us know how you get on if you do decide to view him! Gavin isnt a name I would choose for him so if your not superstitious i'd want to change it! I changed my mare's name when I got her from Lady (gah!) to Tia Maria.
smile.gif

He is a nice looking chap but again as someone said many, (not all) Welsh D's are bargy and dear Cod can they get some might behind them!
The one in my avatar (side pic<-) was good with me 95% of the time BUT would drag my sister across yard, corner her in the stable and get down and roll while she was on him. Not in a malicious or nasty way, just because he knew he could.
The conclusion we came to was that I was carrying more weight then her so could barge him back where as she was a strip of hiss.
Not sure if anyone else on here with D's found the same thing, but after having several and working on a D yard I believe that they don't mature 'mentally' as early as some breeds so have baby ways till about 7/8?? but mature physically into a large looking beast so can come across as steady-can't put into words what I mean!

Well there is a fair bit of discusion on here regarding the original poster's current horse but in response to what was acutally being asked in the first place, I would say he looks like a nice chap. He is on the forehand but with some schooling I'm sure he would be fine. Anyway, you are primarily interested in buying him as he would have better manners so this would be more important than whether he goes 'perfectly'. Good luck and I hope he turns out easier than your current horse.

Those offering their opinions on her current horse, cut her some slack. Everyone is on here because they share an interest in loving horses, so doesn't hairymolly deserve to enjoy looking after her horse? We ride and care for horses for pleasure and shouldn't be frightened to do so. Therefore, she is perfectly entitled to buy something more suited to her. Why can't people answer what was asked originally?!

Happy New Year by the way
