Does your horse get a little "fresh" after clipping?

What do you do about it? Ride through it? Lunge for a few days?

How long does it usually last?

I fully clipped my cob on Weds and he has been silly ever since. Normally totally laid back horse has turned spooky and forward.

Yep. Mine is the same. He's a nutter when the weather gets cold for the first time and also when we get the first warm spell in the spring. Ride through it.....

Ride through it, My guys are always worse if they have a nylon lined rug on after clipping as well, i always put a cotton sheet or fleece under nylon rugs, might sound a bit mad, but im sure they get static off the nylon rugs and seem to crackle with static causing them to be fresh :o:o

Perhaps the time of year too. My kids ponies are loopy at the mo. I dont know how my son stayed on trying to do X country last night. Today took daughters pony to a show. He was placed last in the Pony club pony class because he tanked off with her and then set off bucking when asked to canter. This pony is so good usually that he works at the RDA each week !!. After he jumped the 60cm course he then went in and came second in the family pony class acting much more his age:D

My lass is fine but then she doesn't get a full clip, she starts with a chaser and then second clip she will get a blanket type.

A mare I used to ride was horrible after she was clipped. Her owners took the whole lot off and she was a baggage to ride after, we had to ride her with a fleece exercise sheet all the time and then whip it off just before she went in to do a dressage test/jumping round.

Some of the horses here get fresh. One in particular we had to loose school a lot through winter. But as soon as the warm air it back he is lovely. But he was better to lunge with the freshness.. not as lazy ;)

my cob got a full clip yesterday - right down to skin, hogged the lot. I took him out on a hack today and people warned me - he wasnt too bad, a bit more skittish but ok - on the plus side he was much comfier - no sweating at all - last week he was sweating buckets poor lad
Maybe people expect it, so tense up and that makes them worse?

wouldn't dare get on mine after clipping :o
i'm lucky if i survived leading him to the field as he starts to "twitch" when i'm nearly finished then just goes nuts

my other one doesn't seem to notice ive clipped him he's fine and he's the fizzy ,forward type the other one's normaly a lazy so and so
