Hope some of you lovely folk can help:D

I'm looking for a nice yard with turnout ideally in groups or at very least with loads of other horses close by.
Ideally would also have good sociable stables, floodlit school, nice hacking and some other people for company  Don't mind a bit of mud etc as long as everything is safe.:p

Thought I'd found the perfect place but my mare is WIRED and she needs more company.:(:( I've been looking at some yards but most seem to have quite isolated turnout.

I travel between Ross and Gloucester 3-4 days a week so happy to consider that area - provided they could turnout in the mornings on the days I'm not passing.

Can you recommend anywhere? Or any to avoid - would really like to avoid making a further mistake, it's breaking my heart to see her so stressed at the moment. PMs if you prefer ;)

My yard is lovely :)
Turnout in groupsgenerally (mares gave mares field), stables in barn so sociable or outdoor ones, indoor school & use outdoor, good hacking, lovely lovely people & brill yard manager.. Pm me for more details :) based in witcombe(glos)

Do you live in Ross?

I know a great one, but it's Llangrove (5 ish miles out of ross).

Sure they could arrange the turnout for you. Barn style stables so lots of company and miles and mile of off road hacking and a outdoor school.

Let me know if you'd like more details...

Edited to add...

Oh and don't discount Overross I've heard good things the owner seems lovely and they have 70 acres so sure you could choose a field. My horses have tape paddocks with only some very tall trees for shelter and they are still alive and very happy.

So it is that one then! I wouldn't take my horse there if the only turn out arrangements were what I saw that day.

Thanks for the ideas guys, keep them coming. Fairfields looks lovely and is about as far as I could travel on the days I'm not going into work but the owner is on holiday at the mo, how DARE she!!:D:D

As Im at at Overross I would add my vote too.

There are no field shelters - owners tend to rug their horses ! Stables are available for those that want them (although I would say she is nearly full up and always is). The fields are sectioned off with electric tape - no problem here as it is a commonly used barrier to seperate paddocks! There is plenty of grazing available you can turn out in herds (mare and geldings seperate) or have your own individual paddock (you do have to poo pick if you opt for the latter). All facilities are under cover including the school (which is not full size but sufficient). There are a lot of kids at the yard (just in case your not child friendly). It can be a noisey yard with tracking whizzing about as its also a working farm. The owner is lovely and its not a bitchy yard.
Any more info just pm me.

Shelter does not have to be in the form of a field shelter - trees, hedges and valleys can provide shelter from the wind and more importantly, THE SUN, a rug will not provide a horse with shade! What I saw were electric tape paddocks on an exposed slope, the electric tape was a good few feet away from a good hedge, so shelter was available but fenced off. As I said, I wouldn't keep a horse like that, but if the yard offers a choice, then that's great :)

Many rugs provide UV protection if you use a combination fly mask.

No there not many paddocks with many 'natural' shelter but as my horse is turned out at night during the summer months its not an issue for me. :)

Marmalade which bit didn't you understand and I will explain in simpler terms :)

I'm gussing you haven't been a livery at Overross so offering an opion as a passer by is in my opion unfair.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions, I really didn't want this to turn into a heated debate though ;) :D

Grass Proof, have PMd you:)
