Mare is covered in lumps today, don't seem to bother her and she seems well in herself.
Im working on the assumption its an allergy. I have changed her over from Happy Hoof to Hi Fi this past week so wonder if its anything to do with that. Thought she might be allergic to alfalfa, but see its I n Happy H as well. Any ideas ? Nothing else changed, same paddock, other feed the same. Other horse not lumpy !

She could have had a reaction to a fly bite? As long as she is fine in herself there is no need to worry. My vet recommended giving my horse piriton when she came up in lumps from a reaction from a bite. It could be the feed, maybe try swapping back to happy hoof and see if it makes a difference?

Friends horse has allergy to bute and danillon and comes up in lumps. Could this be why? Its on Metacam now to see if it makes a difference.

She is on bute but has been for a year on and off. I have taken her off the Hi Fi to see if anything changes. I am wondering now if she might have come into contact with a very large number of mozzies. Under her chin she has rubbed the bumps and there is a clear serum on her hair. There were so many I didnt think it could be insects initially. She seems fine in herself though.

Are they all over her body or in a localised area? Is she rugged? My horse occasionally comes in with patches of lumps which I put down to lying/rolling on thistles. Also there are still some biting flies about (my face is currently testament to that!). If all over her body though I would think allergic reaction to something too.

They are all over her shoulders and flanks and some on her belly, also under her chin. She has been off the Hi Fi for 3 days. They haven't gone down.
She hasn't been bitten all through the summer so unless its some new type of fly cant see its that.

Hi I have had issues with the same problem went on for years on and off .. vet didn't have a clue apart from to load him with steroids. In the end I used propell + by equine America double dose lumps went down within days , maybe worth a try .
