Hello,

I have land available for horse grazing, and as I have never done it before, I would welcome some friendly advice.

What is expected of me/required .......
What is the normal rate to charge etc

I have got agreements set up ready from the horse society - so I think these will be ok?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you

Welcome to the forum :)

You could do:
a, rent out the land to 1 person, with contract to say how many horses at one time can be there, they have to maintain ground and fencing, pay bills (water, muck collection etc) and have to insure for 3rd party. That renter could then sub-let if permitted by you, but they are the 1 person responsible for payment.

or:

b, let out to individuals as DIY livery, charging each per week or month (paid in advance). Then you maintain fencing, arrange muck heap collection, pay water bills, harrow, roll, cut hedging etc etc.

Option A works better if you are non-horsey.

However, you don't say how many acres, what location, any facilities (even water laid on, or parking for car or trailer, storage for hay/feed, any shelters/stables), if good local hacking, or perhaps onto main road.
Bit more info OP and am sure others can come back with approx costs for your area :)

Hi....

It's 20 acres. Water laid on and electric soon. Field shelters on way....stables planned. Plenty of parking and storage. Gloucestershire. Superb rural location, but easy access and great hacking.

Any advice is great thank you x

Hi again :)

I was just thinking about what do you do about security - for us and other peoples horses and how to prevent theft etc...

We need to be careful who we allow on the land don't we for these reasons?

Thank you for any help.

:) :) x

You have done, but the Introductions section is really only used for new people to say hi rather than to ask questions :)
Try putting your question in one of the other forums further down the page - Tack Room is the busiest one, I'm sure some people will have lots of ideas to help.

Welcome to the forum by the way.
