Horse has lost a back shoe, can I ride or not?

On a ride out yesterday, my horse lost one of its back shoes! Was probably after the awesome gallop but anyhoo ;) it came clean off so that is a positive anyway. I have asked the farrier if he can come a week earlier to show her.

My question is, if he can't come until next Thursday then what can I do with her, can I ride her or not? And if I can ride her what can I do, best to ride in field, gentle hack, what paces?

Her feet aren't brill but they are ok. I gently walked her back yesterday but she just wanted to carry on bombing around! I wouldn't let her!
 
I personally wouldn't ride as your horse will now be unlevel on her backs. I would wait for the farrier - no chance of him getting out sooner? Just over a week seems a long time to wait?
 
I would ride her in the field, once the ground is not too hard. (no chance of that though eh?)
I wouldn't take her on the roads though as that would make her unlevel, whereas the field has some give in it and they carry more weight on their fronts anyway
 
Well farrier is meant to be coming next Thursday anyway but I have left a message to see if he can come sooner. Will leave another message today if I don't hear anything. I have a big field I can ride in with longish grass. So its ok to ride on this? Walk/Trot/canter? She will be ok for a few days now as I took her on a good ride yesterday but she does like to vent her energy and go for rides.
 
i must admit i ride as normal without a back shoe - but stick to softer ground/rides etc - but its only ever been a day or two before my farrier has come out to sort it....
 
I still ride my horse if he has lost a back shoe, only on soft ground and he has never had any problems. I wouldnt if it was a front shoe tho this would make them more unbalanced
