the little man has lost all his go power :(
any suggestions as to why? his back teeth and saddle are all fine I'm going to go get him some feed tomorrow (planned before this loss of go) and nothing about his routine has changed
we are going show jumping on saturday so hopeing that will perk him up a bit, it certaintly did last time :p he thought he was short listed for the olympics the way he strutting his stuff round the yard :D
I jumped him today and he was not like he normally is I was really having to push him on to the fences and he wasnt becoming all cleaver and I know better like he normally does :o I put him back in his flat work bit to see if he was not liking that today but it made no diffrence :(
I dont think its the work as he has only been in the school once in two weeks and he was fab. So any suggestions? cake and chocolate going spare :D

Has he been wormed recently?
Have you checked for poisonous plants?
TBH If he doesn't pick up soon I would get the vet in to give a once over, just to be on the safe side.

mrs m - he has been doing slightly less than normal as I couldnt ride as I was kicked by another horse on the inside of both knees  but he has been doing some work. He normally works quite hard and has no problems doing it.

toc - he is due worming at the end of the month and yes his field is clear and they have been on it since november time. Yes if it dosent improve with a bit of food and excitment I will call the vet.

Depends on how much work he's been doing?

If it's not a lot and he's had enough to eat, then I'd ask the vet to run some bloods.

I agree with this. My girl a few years back lost her sparkle and checked everything. Turned out that when the vet took bloods she had a viral infection.

Same here. My mare lost all her get up and go. I struggled to get her through the simplest of dressage tests. Yet she was eating fine and seemed bright in herself. Turned out she had quite a bad lung infection.

He may have a virus. Last summer one of mine completely lost all his go. Five minutes of walking was exhausting for both of us. After three weeks he was back to normal which is what the vet had predicted over the phone.

After this weekend, why don't you give him a week off to chill and see how he is afterwards.
