Hope someone can help.

I recently acquired an oldenburg mare. She is 14 and has no registered name on her passport.

Is this normal for horses to be passported unnamed?
She allegedly jumped in the Netherlands before coming to the UK a number of years ago and I would like to find out about her if possible.

I guess if your mare competed in unaffiliated events only there would be no requirement for her to have a registered name and she could compete under her stable name but it seems a bit odd. You can choose a nice name for her though.

Weatherbys charge (significantly) extra to officially name a horse, so most thoroughbred are initially passported as unnamed and named later if they go on to race. Lots of owners also like to name their horses for racing, so not naming youngstock can actually be a selling point!

Possibly the studbook your mare is registered has a fee attached to naming?

Could you find out her prior record through her breeding- if you know her dam's name and the year of birth, it may be possible to trace her?
