my 16 month old gelding has had a small cut similar to a paper cut only quite long on his penis for about 2months now.
i first noticed about 2months ago that he dried blood on it so cleaned it but could not find any trace of a wound, but then the next day it was all bloody again and got the vet out about 3days later when there was no sign of it clearing up.
Vet could not really get a good look at it he was having none of it but she did not seem overly concerned about it and told me to bathe it with some very diluted hibi scrub twice a week. i did eventually find a tiny thin long scratch god knows how he did it, know you shouldnt really clean this area often as you can upset sensitive ph levels etc
it did seem to clear up for a bit but last week noticed it was bleeding again, had vet out for his jabs and asked her about it again. she just says it will heal up eventually. He seems totally happy within himself he looks absolutely fab right now, its never been infected, and he runs about like a loony in the field. Assuming its in an area that just keeps reopening every time he pees?
anybody got any advice or similar experiences?
