Horse has to be sold suggestions please

For a top end riding club horse people are looking to pay 7k absolute tops... most people in this range are looking to pay between 4.5 and 6.5 really, you might just be lucky and get the odd buyer but to get the real interest price him around 6k and you should sell him no probs.

I'm afraid I also think he's over priced. I see alot of horses with clients and would not be interested in paying that much for him as a dressage horse.

I think those who are saying £7K are about right. I would advertise him at £7.5k expecting to be able to come down to £7k if someone wants to barter.

Another thought.... a lot of people don't want to buy a horse that has been professionally produced/competed because they think that once it has got into their 'family home' they will have difficulty with it - i.e, them not being as hard/confident a rider as the professional, so it would be good to show It would be good to show a video/pictures of the owner riding the horse, or a novice rider - with a hat on!

Sorry, but hatless people would put me off as being far too superior to wear a hat therefore, again, a professional rider!

It's intimidating to visit a smart yard such as yours with a super rider such as your hubbie if you are a RC person with your life savings to put towards the horse of your dreams, but you feel you're not really 'good' enough

If you're going to sell him as a RC horse, have you made mention of what he's like in traffic, with kids, dogs, travelling? Piccies of him jumping etc?

IMHO, Please, please do not take this the wrong way, I'd price him at about £5k, yes he is a lovely, lovely looking horse with a lovely gentle character, there is no doubt about that, but I think that after watching his movement on the video, and looking at the way he uses himself, no way is he a £9k horse. We used to have global dressage at my yard, and it was the horses with power and panache from behind that made those sort of prices.

I did think that too but didn't really want to say ...

For everyone that is saying he is worth £9k - surely if that were so he would have been sold by now. The fact that he has been for sale for so long would say to me he is overpriced - either for the time of year or for the way the market is at the moment or just plain and simple overpriced.

Ditto this.

I think I said the same thing last time you posted about him - I just think 9k is too much for a horse that doesn't have much in the way of potential or results jumping, and yet doesn't have the power or paces to command a high price for pure dressage. He looks like an absolutely lovely horse, but I think the fact that nobody has come to see him is a clear indication he is just too expensive for what he is.

I think if he's to be advertised as a high end RC allrounder he needs some good results SJ, otherwise I would just advertise him as an amateur dressage horse, and maybe include in the advert what level you think he has potential for. I think if he was priced around 5k he would sell easily.

Ditto this as well..... I watched the video before reading all the replies.... and although he is a lovely boy, as others have said, the movement and the way he uses himself is just not there to be a top class dressage horse. Maybe it will come in time, but at the moment, 9k is a lot of money for a potential dressage horse without a really good competition record, let alone a top end RC horse.....

Also the market is still very very quiet regarding selling, so maybe some re worded adverts would help.....

See Bossanovas info makes him sound better perhaps some wording about his being light and correctly schooled with the basics done properly not rushed etc etc might get more interest?

Thanks everyone I have taken on board all your comments and will have a chat with the owner as to how she wants to proceed.

As a final plea can anyone recommend any dealers to approach in case she is convinced that this is the avenue she wishes to go down?
