Horse hates Calm and conditioner

This weekend one of the horses decieded he will not eat any allen and page C&C he has had this along with H&P nuts, chop and SB for about 5 years. He is hard to keep weight on and is a big boy 17.2hh. Does anyone know any good feeds to try him on and to put weight on him.

PS anybody else had horses just stop eating over night? ( i know its definatly the C&C because he has eaten his chop and nuts fine when i gave him his 2nd feed.)

Do you think it may be a bad batch? I had a feed supplier once and when i went around the back i was horrified. Sacks of feed, filth and rat poison every where. May be worth checking batch/supplier out. Hope you find a solution.

my lad hates it, refuses to eat his feed if i use it.

i now feed copra meal which keeps him looking fab

All the other 6 are eating it fine so i think its just him been a pain

trust it to be the only horse on the yard that needs the weight!!

Try soya oil - high in calories, and if you need a calmer, magnesium oxide which is I think the relevant ingredient in most calmers.

Titus has just stopped eatin his food. Will eat it if given seperately though, lol, hes a pain in the ass

Had the same problem with my old boy, he ate it fine for a year then suddenly going off it. He's now on Baileys No. 4 - brilliant stuff.

Do you feed haylage? i find ad lib good quality haylage keeps my T.B's as fat as butter with only a little light mix and s.beet.

Try Dodson & Horrell Build Up as an alternative - I found it did the same job as C&C, it comes as a mix or cubes, my horse preferred the mix.

You could also use Alfa A Oil rather than normal chaff - it's very conditioning and great for getting weight on.

Yep they get haylage until it comes out of there ears !!!

2 very fussy mares on our yard are on it and they wolf it down! How strange,hope you find one that he likes
