Horse Hay Fever?!

We live on the coast and I think my horse has hay fever, he has got really gunky sore eyes, we clean them twice a day but i need some help with what else i can do to help the poor chap, i can barely get near him as they are so sore! It is worse because he is an appaloosa and has pink skin and also suffers very badly with sun burn. Any idea's welcome, he was wearing a fly mask but it is rubbing him so looking into finding another one.

Could it be photosensitivity?

Sounds like the vet needs to have a look. My mare has hayfever and needs an inhaler.

Mine has hayfever (pink skin also!) I have him in a Roma fly mask when turned out, hasn't rubbed & has the stickiest velcro every so never comes off!! on high pollen days he stays in & has a double adult dose of piriton in his feed. He's also allergic to fly bites so has a good fly rug on too! Good luck!! xxx
