Have heard on local radio a horse has been hit near/in Burford, anybody know more?
Hope it's ok

I've heard on the grapevine that it was an attempted theft and that two horses were let out onto the road and both where killed

a man (not the theif) was also injured

Yes, several got out and two collided with cars, one horse was killed I think and another injured - car occupants were hurt too. Nothing to suggest at this time that there was any attempt at theft

Isn't it just SO frustrating how these facts are warped

I walked onto the yard this morning to be told that there had been *funny business* at Sturts Farm last night and 1 horse was dead and 4 injured.

I called mother_hen immediately who looked it all up and told me the facts.

Then someone walked onto the yard telling us all in a panic that horses had been STOLEN from Sturts last night - I quickly put her right but she took a lot of persuading

We have called around everyone and told them the truthful facts as we know them - if others hear people varying from the truth it would be really helpful if they did the same

I feel sick: I read this just before I went out on my lunch break only to receive a text 10 minutes later from my friend to tell me it was his horse that was killed.

I have no idea what happened yet but see the local news stories;

and

I dont want to say anything about names etc until the details are confirmed but RIP a very special boy

Oh FFS they are saying on the comments bit on Witney Gazette that it was all to do with a robbery

Where do these people get off

Sorry to hear your friend lost his horse - he must be absolutely distraught that he has gone, distraught that he hurt someone and absolutely distraught that the horse got out in the first place (coupled with fury and disbelief no doubt)

i think it was something to do with a robbery............horses escaped after a break in...............will confirm if i find out............thoughts with horse and friend at the mo..........

That's awful, I can't believe the newspaper stories were all about the woman who's injured rather than the poor horse who has lost it's life.
