Horse Holidays - Bed and Brekfast - How much ?

We are hoping to offer people the chance to bring their horses and ponies on holiday with them this year when they come to our holiday cottages or caravansite. We did it on an informal basis last year for a few friends but hope to officially launch it this year.
Our intention would be for people to keep their ponies and horses in our stables on a DIY basis and we could have feed and bedding ordered in for them prior to arrival.
What do you think would be a fiar price to charge per horse or stable for this service assuming the pay for their own feed and bedding and do the work themselves ?

I can only assume from the lack of replies that nobody actually takes their horses on holiday so you do not have the experience to comment on prices ????
Obvioulsy not a big growth area for our holiday business then.

Sorry, I didn't see this post earlier. I'm not so sure that Brits are really that "up" on taking their horses on holiday with them....yet!

Over here, this is big business. Lots of horsey folks take their horses with them. We call it Bed & Bales over here. I have some places in the UK offering this too but have no idea whether it is popular there.

I have had some of these customers and I charge $15 per day per horse for stabling and a separate paddock. I do the mucking out and include feed in with the price.

I think if you run some searches on Google to see what sort of prices your competitors are charging - I would guess about £15 per day per horse.

I've taken my horse on holiday once, but it was a training sort of holiday to a place in Ayr. I am thinking of taking horse on holiday to do some of the Borders Festival of the Horse rides and the Common Riding, so wrong direction, sorry. There is a website that gives you a list of B&Bs and hoiday homes that take horses in Scotland, could you google horse holidays in Scotland to give you an idea of what people charge, but I think Tia is pretty much right about the pricing.

Hi, don't give up, I think its great that you want to open a b&b for horses! The BHS publish a book titled bed and breakfast for horses - maybe you could look at that? There are also horse holiday companies that you could get in touch with who may be able to help or do a recipricol - www.bridleways.co.uk springs to mind. Post an ad on www.equineramblers.co.uk which is a forum for people who take their horses on holiday. Personnally I think you should go for it!! I already know of a couple of people planning to ride in Scotland in the near future so I shall send them your way.
