So I'm looking to get a new horse to bring on while my super older boy Badger is still going strong. Criteria (but flexible):

A boy
!6.2 / 16.3
Irish
3/4 bred type
Can jump
Not an idiot
Not ugly

Budget probably about 7k.

Probably should say what I want to do with it!

Hunt over big country
SJ / event at lower affiliated levels bit nothing serious

Help!?

No idea if these two dealers are still active, but Rimmers and Barbara Rich might help you, they did/do specialise in quality hunters.

Try John North in Tetsworth, Oxfordshire. He lets you take them out on a days hunting. He's sold some nice horses. Google Harlesford Stud

How old? We have one :)

ETA just seen your other post - my guy ticks all your boxes but is a bit older so more "made" - still within your budget tho!

Mine came from here: http://www.horsesinireland.com/

I bought him from someone I know who imported him with another (to sell). They have had a few from there to sell on and I've seen them out and about. All lovely horses. Mine was a bit of a random one for them as he's a little Heinz 57 Connie / cob/ big pony type but they seem to mostly bring over ID and IDx/ ISH. Looking at the website, the dealer/ stud has all sorts. All the ones I've seen have been fab - good hunters, see them out SJ and I think one has gone on to event at a pretty high level.

Depends if you fancy a trip over to Ireland!

You want to PM Saratoga on here. She has a cracking 4yo in to sell, 16.2hh ISH with plenty of blood & jump.

The last one shown, I looked into buying some time ago. I was told he had a small splint (which I didn't mind) and a curb. The seller never bothered to send me a close up picture of the horse's hock, and at 4,000euro, I decided not to go over and view him. He'd probably suit you well for hunting, but I wanted him for eventing, so not keen on the curb.

one from Tom McNamara (horsesinireland) arrived today and I totally agree that he has some fabulous horses and we got the chance to see them hunting. I didn't actually realise I was looking to buy another 15hh pony until he phoned to say he had put it on the lorry for my daughter to hunt for the day ! she had a blast and jumped everything in great style and he is now tucked up in our stables......
