Just recently on fb there have been lots of stories of lost horses when riders have fallen off so its got me thinking. What on earth would I do in that situation? I also realised I have not got any ID locating info on my horse or myself. I have seen a classified on HHOclassifieds http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/clas...cy-contactid-for-your-horses-tack-422764.html and these look ideal. I like the fact they dont jingle jangle like pet tags and my friends horse actually got very hurt with the swingy disc ones as it swung round, bashed his head and it ended up cutting in like a knife. What is everyone else using? And did it do the job?

I have a Locata too - highly recommend and Creme de Monthe on here is very helpful - you can get them in practically any colour and if you have a special request re colour/size or whatever he will probably be able to sort something out for you :)

I have a locata on the saddle, though keep meaning to get the metal circle tags you get for cat/dog collars and attach them to all saddles/bridles/rugs. Rugs especially since the sods have managed to escape the field twice in a fortnight... luckily they never get far before a neighbor spots them and herds them back in ;)

Thanks everyone, doesnt look like there is much out there then. I think I'm going to go with the HorseID slide on things - I'm lazy and just know if the small coil gives up the ghost i'll just never get round to replacing it and it will cost me more in the long run. Besides they friggin' jangle (pet hate) The locata's just arent my cup of tea either (sorry Locata).

The horse ID slide on thingy is very neat but I wonder if a member of the public would notice it. It's a bit too discreet for someone faced with a loose, riderless horse.
The Locata isn't so tidy, but seems a more practical solution as it's more visible and if you go to the trouble of putting your details on the horse for emergency incidents, you'd want it to be seen quickly.

The headcollar one looks really smart, easy to fit to any leather headcollar and avoids what I;ve ended up with which is 2 really top headcollars which I never use because they've got old horses names on !
And completion names too so I'll never find anyone to sell them too.
Must remember to call my new horse something common !

I've got bright coloured plastic pet tags. I wanted something easy to spot as many people wouldn't look for something discrete and these are easily seen from someone on the ground.
