I have put my two in the stable tonight and they seemed pretty happy about it. Horse was making a fuss, galloping round, rolling in the dirt, which means he feels cold, and looking appealingly over the garden fence at me and obviously wanting attention, so I obediently went out to see what he wanted! Pony was shivering in the corner so I decided to put them both in.
OK, I know it isn't that cold, but they had been rained on and the wind is quite cold, and my paddock has no shelter from the prevailing wind. There is some shelter, a thick hedge shelters from the east and north and another tree gives good shelter from the rain, but the wind usually blows from the west/south west directly into the field.
At least I can ride first thing in the morning on a dry and clean horse. Roll on autumn.
