Horse insurance AGAIN Sorry! (& colic info please!))

hi

looking at the T&Cs it says that they dont cover any illness that arises in the first 14 days of cover. i see that this is so you dont insure an already sick horse but does it include colic? i am just thinking with the extra stress of moving horse & swopping from hay to haylage then colic could be more likely but unpredictable? am i right about this & how much of a risk is it? will phone the insurance company at 9 to check if it includes colic or not but your advice would be appreciated

I think it covers everything and anything that could happen. Suppose its fair enough really incase you buy a horse that has an existing problem. Bit harsh though if your horse gets an injury say in the field when you first turn out.

Yes the 14 days does include colic. If the horse is already insured with prev owner, you may want to ask them to continue it for another 2 weeks? Alternately, if it is insured with the same insurer, sometimes they will give you continuous cover.
