horse insurance and exclusions

I am trying to insure my new horse who crib bites. Only insuring for £1500 so no vet certificate required but they still ask you to disclose any vices and then slap exclusions on anything that may be related illness wise.

Does anyone else have a horse that has a vice? Are the exclusions used unfairly by insurance companies to wirggle out of paying out?

Am debating whether insuring at all as potntially many things could be linked to this vice

I have a crib bitter and the insurance company did not ask me about vices. Who are you using? I'm with petplan

just got a quote from petplan and they wer just confirming the policy when she asked about vices and behavioural problems.

I don't think anything is 100% confirmed that it is linked to crib biting so I think they would find it hard to exclude illnesses with perhaps the exception of odd wear on the teeth.

My instructor seems to think they may well exclude colic type illnesses as well, which is a very expensive thing to go wrong!!

I,m insured with petplan and they never asked me about any vices and my horse cribs.
