Has anyone used this company?

Just had renewal from Petplan and having rung up and queried why the insurance premium was £70 more than if i were a new customer wanting exactly the same policy (and i'd get a free first aid kit!!) have decided to look elsewhere.

KBIS and Stoneways are both cheaper than Petplan by around £100 but have done a quote on www.horse-insurance.co.uk and it is roughly £160 cheaper with better cover (i.e including tack which none of the others do).

The horse-insurance website seems to good to be true but have checked it out and it all seems ligit  Have always used Petplan of NFU so not much experience with these other companies- can anyone recommend.

:) :) :)

Have a look at the small print - it's just E&L pulling the wool over your eyes !!!

I use KBIS and they have been fab !

Not heard of them but check out the small print.

What exactly is covered, your excess etc.

They are cheaper for a reason, they must be cutting back somewhere but not making it obvious.
Not saying there is anything wrong with them just be clear about what covered you have in case you have to claim.

this, they are a sister company of E&L I've been with: http://www.horseponyinsurance.co.uk/ and they've been ok paying out on vets fees so far, a little slow but at least they've paid out!! and premiums are very competitive plus flexible to what you want, i have had to move one of my horses to petplan from them due to after16 years of age these people only insure for injury, whereas petplan insure for illness upto 25 years.

Would personally be v wary of anything tied to E&L.

If you'd like to stay with Petplan, have you tried calling them to discuss the renewal quote? I.e. to say you're not happy with it and have had better quotes from X and Y you'll accept if they can't amend it, also giving them the new customer's price? Not had to do this with nags as yet but it usually works well when the car insurance is up!

Thanks for all the comments.

Yes i did ring Petplan and the woman was insistent that i must have been entering something incorrectly to get the online price so much cheaper but i'd checked it 3x and taken the info straight off my policy and apparently/ conveniently she couldn't check it on her system 'only take my word for it' and was clearly not going to match any other price i had found or even open itno discussions about it... helpful!

However having decided the online site is part of E&L i think i'll steer clear as rarely heard good things about them. Think i would rather pay more to a company that wont quibble so much with claims as it will be just my luck to have one if i try and be a cheapskate :)

Will look into the other two but in the meantime i will also ring Petplan up and see if i can get a more accommodating adviser :) :) :)
