Hi there
I have my horse insured with NFU and at the age of 22 he is only covered (NFU will only insure ) for accidents that involve a visible flesh wound. As this costs over £200 a year i was thinknig of just putting money aside every month and getting some 3rd party (is this right) cover can anyone advise me if there is any better insurance that covers more and if not which company is good for 3rd party.

My 23yr old is covered with PetPlan and has more cover than that...maybe worth trying them too. mind you due to various claims through the years I think her ears are the only part of her left....now rushing down yard to see her to check on ears...!!!

Gold membership of the BHS gives you PL and some personal injury cover + money in the bank each month would probably be cheaper overall

IMO Petplan do the best cover there is. There new veteran policy will still cover illness - cant remember when you have to be insured by agewise though, might be 19. My old boy is 32yrs young and on their old plan (accidental external injury) he costs me 10.91 a month inc liability, disposal, and tack! They have paid out 3 times on similar injur - (kicks his back legs) as they were seperate incidents they paid. Vet cover to £1500
