?

A Year ago i had a horse that i didn't insure as he was just a youngster and i didn't see the point in insuring, but then he kept braking out the field and it wasn't till i thought if he hurts someone or a car runs in to him not only would i have had lost money on him but most important i would not have has any 3rd party cover to compensate the driver of the car Or if i was sued.

Now ALL my horses are insured my show jumper hari,My happy hacker jae and my 2 babies(Yearling Shetland ponies).

So insuring a horse is not only for vet bills loss of use etc etc but also if the horse escapes and causes damage to property, hurts someone or causes a real bad accident.

Silly post i know but i was silly and i know it not insuring my horse.

I think it is very important to insure.

so who insures and who doesn't????

I insure mine, again would be worried not to. Have never claimed or anything though just puts my mind at ease knowing its there should I ever need it!

Insure the dogs too and glad we did as we have claimed alomost 3k in the first year for cruciate ligament. So think its well worth insuring

Mine are insured. Purely for my peace of mind!! My youngster seems to injure himself for fun haha! And with him being young i cant take any chances incase he injures someone else.

My two are insured, Cappy has a tendancy towards colic, so vets' bills could be horrendous. I haven't claimed yet but you never know, mainly it is for peace of mind. I think the personal liability is extremely important as well.

However, for me, the choice of insurer is also important, some are cheap but don't pay out, I googled mine and found some very interesting info about some other companies.

I think 3rd party liability is a must for all horse owners. I also have mine insured for vet fees as it's scary how quickly the bills can add up, and last year it was a god send to have as i had to make 3 separate claims that totaled 12k, and there's no way i could have afforded the treament without my insurance.
