Blimey got my renewal details from the NFU and they have increased my policy by nearly £300, I haven't made any claims and in shopping around with the main companies I can't find anything to match them, whats going on, any recommendations appreciated thanks

Costs have gone up due to things such as rising fuel & VAT. The vet bills they have to pay are higher, so they are passing the cost onto their customers. At a guess!

Yes I got the same, my bill for 3 was £2700. Problem is that if I move I will need to get current vettings which will cost the increase anyway.

Had my NFU renewal last month, gone up by £10 a month!!
Went to Petplan and got it for £7 a month less than renewal quote, probably not as comprehensive as NFU's but it's got the cover I want and need without me paying for extras that I don't!

Mine has gone up by £20 a month, despite me taking one horse off policy! To get a quote from another company they wanted a 5 stage vetting ! Horse is 16 not likely to pass one.!

I was just about to ask the question about insurance as I put a claim in for £4000 vet bill in March so I am worried that my premiiums will rocket.
I
I am with the NFU and thought it would take about 14 days for the claim to be paid so far it is over 5 weeks. I am not sure if this is normal or not.

My insurance renewal came through 2 weeks ago, I am with Petplan and despite them having paid about £7k to date my insurance has only gone up by £5 a month, I was very impressed :)

Just did a search and found this thread, got my renewal from NFU, been with them for 10 years and it has gone up £35 a month for 2 horses! Not happy, going to shop around :(

Mine went up this year too, by £14 per month for 2 ponies & a trailer. I shopped around a bit and found that other insurers wanted £500 + per year just for one of the ponies!!

Needless to say I will be sticking with NFU, have always had good service from them, and last year there was the double bonus things (14% off rather than 7% and this year discount only 10%) so I think a combination of less discount + increased costs in general have made this years increase look bigger than expected!:)

Actually have just added my foal to the policy too, easier to have them all with same company!!

I've just got my quote through, and happily for the second year running I have got a reduction in cost. Gotta love AmTrust! Everyone with NFU seems to be getting a hefty hike this year!

My insurance from NFU was £407 last year, £799 this year!!! No way. Have now gone with KBIS, Cheaper excess, £7500 vets fees for colic £5000 other and public liability cover for £540. Still more expensive than last year but I consider that a good deal. Pet plan wanted approx £800 as well and I only ever have cover for vets fees and accidental death!

Im another that has just cancelled my horse policy with NFU, they put it up from £31 a month to £47!!! Now changed to Pet plan and paying £16 a month for horse at grass with vet fees cover as i dont ride her anymore.
