I am currently insuring Nelson with PetPlan after NFU became too expensive and E&L came with too many ghost stories. However, they wont insure more than one rider (me) to ride him, he's covered but they're not - I don't grasp that one, how can that work?

So basically just wondered if any one could recommend an insurance company who will insure multiple riders, it'd be nice for my friend's daughter to be able to ride him when I'm on holiday. Her pony is insured with PetPlan too and we're both only covered to bring eachother's horses in from the field to the stable. We can't even lunge.

I can't afford to go back to the NFU.

Thanks

This probably doesnt help you but when i looked at horse insurance petplan was cheaper than NFU but when i actually looked at the level of cover i got NFU was far the best. Having actually delt with a claim for my friend where her horse was killed along with its rider in a car accident i must say they remained professional throughout and paid almost straight away.

I have had a bad experience with Petplan where they refused to pay for a claim for my old horse. I just hapened to query this five years later when i tried to make another claim and was told that the previous non payment was a computer error and i should have been paid. I was able to back claim but l lost out on £1000 as i couldnt prove certain items i had had as it was so long ago. Regardless of the fact it was an illness i could have had my horse PTS for, had i not obtained a credit card to pay the bill. I had been with them for 15 years and got no appology, no nothing.

Most insurance companies will insure the horse and any rider given permission to ride it (I know we do!) so maybe have another shop around or try an insurance broker who can shop for you and is likely to know of other companies who maybe you are not aware of.

Be aware though, you do get what you pay for so double check any policy that seems to appear alot cheaper than what you have already!
