Has anyone on here got petplan insurace? they have done a decent quote for me with a low excess but just wondering what they're like re payouts etc? Pm me if you like.
Any recommendations also welcome

Thanks

Petplan do pay. however thay are very quick to exclude anything from your policy. I am now with NFU, Aims are aso good payers

I have had massive claims from Petplan with two horses, and they are very good about paying, which is helpful in a stressful situation.

I havent heard ONE good report about them.

I tried NFU...to pricey for what I need!

My daughters mare was a bit sore backed when we bought her, she was well and truly outgrown and had been hunted all season by an 11.5 st boy, she is 14.2. Pet plan have excluded all claims relating to her spine! 3.5 years later and not one day off due to back she is still not covered. She jumps 1.15 courses and doed BE.

New horse just passed vet excluded for all 4 feet and the whole of 1 leg due to him having wide web shoes on and a scar on his knee (he has been a successful eventer at Intermediate)

Won't lift the exclusions.

I'm with petplan and had to claim for 2 horses - they paid out straight away without

I didnt renew my policy with NFU ontime as I was in ICU, my cover lapsed for 10days and the pony got grass sickness in those 10days - despite being insured by them for 3yrs previously without a single claim they refused to do anything. Pretty poor customer service IMHO.
I insure all of mine with Petplan now

All of mine are with petplan and I would highly reccomend them.

I had to have my mare PTS in March and they were very helpful and paid out within 10 days, we had no problems with them at all.

equestrian direct are fab! paid out soo much in the 5years i have been with them, never laten payments and have lifted previous exclusions. have herd few negatives about both pp and nfu (but that happens with everything!!) i do knopw both are rather expensive

I've always insured mine with Petplan and they have been excellent! Had to have a horse put to sleep just over 2 years ago and they paid with no fuss at all. New horse then went lame 6 months after I brought him and now after 16 months of trying to get him sound they have just agreed loss of use for him - again with no fuss at all.

Can't recommend them highly enough. Just remember to read the terms and conditions of your policy so you know what you are and aren't covered for (I work in the claims department for a private medical insurance company so can't emphasise enough how important it is to read terms and conditions - as boring as they can be!! If you're not sure on any of them phone the company and check - best to find things out before you need to claim!!).
