What companies do people use for their insurance?

I have a 16yr old horse currently insured with petplan and the premiums have just gone up so high that i am looking to change companies.

Any advice appreciated.

Many use NFU, but there are plenty of reputable companies out there. Avoid E&L though as they have been subject to more adverse posts than any other company on this forum.

I use NFU but when they get to 15yrs old I think, the policies change to Veteran ones and dont cover as much. I believe that Petplan are the best for older horses and afford more cover when it comes to vets fees.

They didn't last year with me when Ludo was 16. His birthday is May (same day as Melissa's

) but policy changes in July. Will wait to see what they say this year as he'll be 17.

To answer the original question, Petplan equine do a veteran policy that if you start before they're 18 will go on up to 25 (I think that's right!). I looked at Petplan when I got Ludo as a 10 year old and they wanted £900 then

goodness knows how much they'd want now
