Ive insured Jerry, but not Hector as at 17 he would only be covered for visable external injuries or something like that, and all four of his legs are excluded now anyway
Yes, because to me my horse is worth a heck of a lot of money but is cheap enough relative to everyone else's horses to insure. Very glad she is though, as have only had her nine months and she's been in the vet clinic twice, and seen most of the practice vets!
I know my YO doesn't as hers are worth so much that she couldn't afford the premiums. So it's either insure the horse, or feed it!
I decided to keep his value low to keep premiums down as I couldnt bare to have to tell the vet not to give him the treatment needed as I dont have the money for it.
Know a few folk who only have insurance through BHS membership, 3rd party and laibility cover. But they are more than one horse owners and just cant afford to have vet cover.
Old girl is 33 and not insured at all. Welshie just has public liability insurance through the BHS. I do make sure I put some money into my ISA each month which is there for emergencies.
My old boy is insured although not much left now due to exclusions, I'm glad he was insured cause last year he had to have a few teeth out etc and that was very pricey.
New girlie cost a heck of alot of money, so i have insured her through SEIB, the premiums are absolutely huge. But would rather pay them than have to fork out another umpteen grand for a new horse!!
