Anyone know of good insurance company's?, I'm with pet plan and it is quite expensive! Now the hunting season is here need to insure my pony but need something abit cheaper? Thankyou :)
 
Pet plan are expensive because you get good service and a good level of cover. There are some cheaper ones, but there are some to avoid as well!

I'm with Petplan - I can't fault them. They paid out for three different conditions in the space of 12 months all of which either reached or exceeded the £5000 cover. They have queried things, but never refused to pay out. I have both my horses with them. Last year, I did get some more quotes from other companies - I think Shearwater and kbis were two of them, but the saving wasn't enough to make me move, although I believe they are also excellent insurance companies
 
AMTRUST - they are fab! It cuts out using a middle man as they are the same company as Amlin who underwrite various equine policies - they are knowledegable horse people too so understand horses and issues that occur. Good claims dept too. I have used most of the bog insurance companies (KBIS, BEIB (THB BE), SEIB, Petplan, NFU - over the years and rate Amtrust at the top. Highly recommended!
 
SEIB are brilliant. They were one of the cheapest when I changed to them from NFU (who are ridiculously expensive and will only increase your premiums every year horrendously even if you've never claimed). I had to make a claim for my horse with SEIB and they were excellent throughout - never argued over vets bills, paid them promptly and then paid up for loss of use at the end of it all with no quibble at all.
 
I am with E&L who get very bad press but they recently paid out my claim without quibble. They were one of the few insurance companies who pay vets bills until aged 20 and thank god too as at the age of 19 1/2 she had a 4k vets Bill! So don't believe all the bad press about them .
