South Essex (SEIB) are usually a little more expensive but they are well worth it, I had to have my horse put down last month and they settled without argument and have paid the vets fees within 2 weeks of invoice. Pet plan are also quite good in my experience. DO NOT what ever you do go with E&L they may be cheap but they wont pay, if you go to most vets and tell them that you are isured with them they will tell you to pay up front before treatment!
They seem to be quite expensive though, that's the only thing....that said, they paid up so I don't mind paying the premium if I know they're going to pay if I need them to. There was also no increase in my next premium despite having claimed and having subsequent exclusions on the policy.
Thanks MrStevo, yes I've heard negative things about E&L, I'll give them a wide berth, years ago I always went through Pet Plan, but that was some time ago and am unsure who to go with.
I'm with the N.F.U and always found them very good. When one of my horse had a rare disase of the brain they where great. Talk to your vet they may know of local company which is good. Again don't go any where near e&L.
NFU for me, have got both ponies, car & trailer & no complaints. When my trailer was stolen I had a full cheque within 7 days. One of my ponios has had LOTS of vets bills sadly, again paid in full & direct to the vets each time.
NFU for me too! Had a year of claiming for kissing spine treatment, they've paid the vet direct with no questions asked. Sadly now about to claim for loss of use, and hoping they will be as helpful with that. Also insure 4x4, trailer and house with them so get a discount too.
