I do hope for poor OPs sake that this isn't another case of non-horsey parents just buying whatever horse was cheap and available at the time. You see it happen so much, and it almost always ends in tears and/or injury.
My father rang the vet in a panic because his mare was lying on the ground, groaning ..... He was convinced she was dying. Turns out she was snoring in the sunshineHi OP, I do hope your boy settles soon. It's natural to be anxious with your first horse, I once rang the vet in tears convinced my mare was dying because she was shaking. The vet talked me down, it turns out she was just cold... I was a lot older than you as well, so I had no excuse.
Axe, I don’t know you and I don’t know Ouch but as a mother PLEASE show this post to your mother and get her to contact Ouch.I know this horse. My friend owned him for a while he has been through a fair number of homes
The Yoer would have to be nuts to get on it .It did make me worried that previous owner had only had him 5 weeks, which is why I suggested to OP getting YO to pop on him first, then staying with OP while she rides after
I think OP is more worried about her gelding's reaction to the stallion.I used to completely panic every time I got a new horse, imo it’s quite normal. Step away from google! It just makes things worse.
Don’t worry about the stallion, every yard I’ve ever worked in with one or more they have been quite unbothered by being next to geldings. As long as he can’t touch, which you have said already, I’m sure it’s absolutely fine.
Good luck with him. Enjoy.
I posted this on the other thread: The whole situation and the horse’s symptoms/behaviour described by the OP need someone knowledgeable to intervene (even if it doesn’t require veterinary treatment) or the OP is at risk of getting hurt. She has no saddle so has been riding bareback and has already fallen off once.
She has also mentioned bolting. I am really concerned for her safety.
..after breakfast and a small groom (or stoke,) depending on his mood. unless he is worked, then he will groomed, worked, then turned out. that was a routine, until he started bolting off,

This is in the terms and conditions re under 18s. I read it as that a parent or guardian of a juvenile should be aware of each and every post that the juvenile makes on the forum. It's not an adult only forum, but historically HHO is mostly frequented by adults.I am beginning to see why HHO is supposed to be for adults. I do hope that your parents are monitoring this thread, and any social media that you are a member of.
