they didnt even tell us, and worst of all, the saddle they rode him in, was ill fitted, infact not even fitted to him at all. he has a new saddle now, that we got for him asap, but it took 3 weeks. we was never told he needed physio every 6 weeks, out physio said 3 months
To be very clear. She HAS NOT purchased this horse from my friend. It has been passed on since she had him.

I'm sure you'e realised by now OP that you'll get as many opinions and pieces of advice as there are people - some of it might be similar, some of it might be conflicting. This is because everyone is speaking from their own experience and that is experience is always going to be different. The best advice you'll get is from someone qualified who can see what's happening on the ground. If you need to move yards to somewhere where you can have help, I would seriously consider doing that but one way or another, you need regular help on the ground. I was in a similar position when I got Archie 20 years ago. I went from a very automatic pony and thinking I was amazing to realising very quickly that a more challenging horse was showing that I'd been a passenger all that time. I got help from a very experienced instructor and didn't get out of walk for the first 4 lessons but ended up able to do quite a nice Novice test on him after a lot of work. Find an instructor you get on with - it may take a bit of trial and error - go back to basics and work hard and you'll get there. Good luck and enjoy the journey!
